Capital Crescent Trail, C&O Canal, DC

White building at Fletcher's cove.

Along the C&O Canal in Georgetown.
This morning I went for a long hike on the Capital Crescent Trail, starting from Downtown Bethesda. The trail length to Georgetown is approximately 8 miles. There were many runners and bikers on the trail. I passed through the impressive Dalecarlia tunnel (built in 1910), walked over the Arizona Avenue trestle and along the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal until I finally saw the buildings of Georgetown University in the distance. Back to civilization at last! I then topped this off with a walk along the C&O Canal towpath and a more urban walk in beautiful and posh Georgetown.
